2004 - Rock Star (Italy) (Translation below)
A great box set containing four CDS with b-sides and rarities has been released, and in Summer, a new album...
Coldplay listening to their dark hit, "A Forest". Melissa auf der Maud and Interpol mention them as one of her influences. Hot Hot Heat, The Rapture, and A Perfect Circle watch them when metal doesn't inspire them
We are in the 2004 and it is more than a quarter of century of their debut (1978, with the single Killing an Arab). The Cure are now a strange band. The most interesting band of the last rock wave, say the descendants of Robert Smith, the old Goth and disheveled boy, now unable to paint his lips. He exchanges affection with Mogwai again, and prepares a new album which "itīs the heaviest of the history of music". Mr. Smith defines so the new album of the band; the recording is taking place these days in London, with guru of new-metal Ross Robinson on production, and "The heaviest album in the history of music" is the sentence that Smith has chosen as inditacion of his company on the studio's wall where they are finishing the recording. "make somebody crying is the best thing we've ever made" has cofessed the voice of The Cure. Robinson, creator of the sound of Korn, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit, (who wants The Cure and company to become Kure) has declared his dedication to the band of Disintegration, and in order to get his aim with Vex Red, and At the Drive-In, the band who seem to come from Mars, is back: "Iīll give my life to produce their album", has stated Robinson.
In order to avoid another... Smith has signed a contract with label I am Recordings/Artist Direct, which belongs to Robinson, a label which unfortunately failed suddenly. Before of the announcement the new album, the following after Bloodflowers, the British band has looked back over their shoulders to and finished their obligation with old label, Fiction, allowing to publish the four Cds box-set: Join the Dots, b-sides and rarities, the Fiction years (1978-2001). Beyond 300 minutes of music The Cure have put all their b-sidesī singles which till this year a little number of fans could have listened to them. Heavier and darker than one could have ever felt, the first cd, the one which contains 1978-1987, is perfect for Halloween and the day of the rain. The Cure shows in Join the Dots their secondary effect.
